Nature of Rotterdam explores life in the volkstuin, where cultivation, everyday routines, and forms of communal life take place within the industrial landscape of Rotterdam. The title refers to this particular tension: Rotterdam is a city shaped by industry, infrastructure, and the port, where nature appears limited and marginal. The volkstuin offers another kind of urban nature, cultivated collectively and existing alongside the city rather than outside it.
