Counterintuitive
by Xiao Yu
In Counterintuitive, I explore the spaces where I lived as an immigrant and the places I travelled to, as a way to make sense of the “physical context” around me. These surroundings often appeared without clear definition, slipping by like a passing backdrop, yet they quietly shaped my days and left traces I only recognised later. The process was both conscious and subconscious—formed through moments of attention as well as impressions that lingered in the background until memory brought them forward.
